Your Support at Home funding can include ongoing and pathway funding depending on your assessed needs.

It may include:

Your funding will be split evenly across the year for you to pay for services you need. You will receive a budget every three months, which outlines the cost of your care and how your funding will be used to pay for the supports you need. It is developed alongside your Care Plan. Your budget will also include any financial contributions you will need to make towards your care.

If you receive short term funding for supports like Restorative Care and End of Life Care, or Assistive Technology and Home Modifications Scheme, you can spend the full amount of funds straight away.

Existing HCP clients can keep any unspent Commonwealth funds for use under Support at Home. This money can also go towards Assistive Technology, Home Modifications, or short term supports if you need.

Support at Home funding levels

Support at Home offers eight different funding levels, each designed to meet your care needs, from a little help at home to complex health care. These levels ensure that you can receive the right amount of support to remain safe, independent, and connected at home.

For example, Level 1 is suitable if you need assistance with weekly grocery shopping or meal preparation. If you require Personal Care services such as help with showering or getting dressed, you may require Level 3 funding.

The table below outlines the eight levels of funding in the Support at Home program, to help you understand the type of services it could cover.

As your care needs change over time, you can be reassessed to access a higher level of funding.

Rolling over funds

Unspent funds of up to $1,000 or 10% of your budget (whichever is higher) can be rolled over to the next quarter for ongoing services. This means you can pay for additional care if anything unexpected happens, like if your carer is unable to support you, or you are discharged from an unexpected hospital stay.

You cannot rollover any funds for short term pathways such as Restorative Care, or any unspent funds greater than $1,000 or 10% of your total package.

Your financial contribution

The Australian Government expects all people to contribute towards the cost of their care, if they can afford to do so. Learn more about your contributions.
