Government subsidised home care

Depending on your personal circumstances, you may be eligible for subsidised home care.

There are two types of home care programs that are subsidised by the Australian Government. These are the Home and Community Care (HACC) and Home Care Packages. These programs are designed to help you to live independently at home and meet your changing needs as you get older.

Home and Community Care (HACC) provides basic home support services. You may be eligible for this type of support based on your ability to carry out everyday activities.

At Silver Chain, we deliver a Home and Community Care Program that supports you, so that you can stay independent and living in your own home for as long as possible. We also help you stay active and connected amongst your community.

A Home Care Package is a ‘package’ of personalised care, designed to help those with more complex needs stay in their home as they get older. A Home Care Package gives you choice, control and flexibility in the way your care is provided.

Our Home Care Packages are available in four levels, and offer a range of services depending on your needs and requirements. These services include showering, helping you to get out and about, and a variety of specialist health services. Find out more about Home Care Packages.

To receive government subsidised home care, you will first need to have an assessment.

Financial contributions

Depending on your financial circumstances, you may be required to make a contribution to the cost of your care. Your contributions will be calculated based on your Aged Pension and any other income you receive.
