Accessibility

When making our website, a key goal was for its content and features to be usable by as many people as possible.

To ensure we met this goal, a few key things we undertook were:

Checked all key features and pages against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Drawn up in December 2008, these guidelines help to “make content accessible to a wider range of people with disabilities”.
Tested all key features and pages in the NVDA Screen Reader, to catch anything we may have missed in following the WCAG 2 guidelines (a screen reader is a text-to-speech web browser that is controlled purely by keyboard input).
Uploaded all documents in PDF format, which can be opened inline in most browsers, or using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Followed modern website building best practices to ensure the site works well and can be downloaded quickly on a plethora of different devices and connection speeds - from small low-end mobile phones to expansive high-end desktop computers.
