Stoma care

Stoma care

With the help of our specialist nurses, you can receive the stoma care you need in the privacy and comfort of your home, without needing to visit hospital.

A stoma is an opening made by a surgeon, usually on your abdomen, involving either your bladder or bowel. These are also known as a colostomy, an ileostomy or a urostomy, depending on which part of the bladder or bowel is involved.

An opening through your trachea can also be categorised as a stoma, although these are less common.

Our nurses, including stoma therapists, can help you:

  • understand how to care for your stoma
  • solve any issues that arise
  • learn what other resources are available to you in the community.
