If you’re looking into your health and aged care options, we can help you understand what the costs are and give advice on how to access funding for services.
We understand that everyone is unique, with individual needs and preferences. We'll take the time help you understand what’s available to you, and the costs involved.
For most older Australians, the cost of home care is subsidised by the Federal Government. Funding options are determined on an individual basis following an aged care assessment.
Home Care Packages
Home Care Packages are available in four care levels, determined by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). Each level comes with a set level of annual funding, which can be allocated to provide the support services needed to maintain your health and independence.
The following fees may apply:
Entry and exit fees - $0
As a not-for-profit organisation, we won’t charge you entry or exit fees.
Fees for services (weekday rates)
*Charges are for weekday visits during standard business hours. Surcharges may apply for after-hours or weekend visits.
Other services, such as home maintenance and gardening services, can be arranged for you. The cost will depend on the type of work involved. If an external supplier is used, there is a 5% charge to cover the cost of processing invoices and meeting compliance requirements.
As part of your RDNS SA Home Care Package, you have access to a dedicated care co-ordinator. They are there to help you make the most out of your package, and co-ordinate and manage your support services.
Our care co-ordination fees vary according to the package level you receive.
Your care co-ordinator will explain all fees to you before you sign up with RDNS. These may include:
Income-tested fees and basic daily fees
These fees are controlled by the government and include the:
basic daily fee – this is currently capped at a maximum of 17.5% of the age pension, or $10.43/day. You can choose to pay this fee, or part thereof, depending on the level of care and support that you require
income-tested fee – this is determined by the Department of Human Services based on your assessable income. It does not include the value of your home or other assets.
Our administration fee is calculated as 15% of your annual funding and is paid out of your package.
Surcharges may apply for other circumstances including:
- cancelled visits where 24 hours’ notice is not provided
- service delivery in regional and remote areas
- certain travel costs during support visits.
If you receive a Home Care Package, you may be eligible for additional supplements. These can be for:
- specific care needs – such as dementia and cognition support, oxygen or enteral feeding
- living in a remote region
- a Veterans’ supplement.
Ask your care co-ordinator about supplements when you meet with them.
Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) provides basic home support services to seniors across Australia. To be eligible for services under CHSP, your care needs will be assessed by the Regional Assessment Service (RAS).
There is no financial assessment, and the only thing you'll need to pay is a small contribution for the services you receive.
We offer our home care services on a private, fee-paying basis. There’s no waiting list and no need for an assessment which means you can get the care you need right away.
