Silver Chain wins at National Palliative Care Awards
Silver Chain Group has been recognised as an industry leader in palliative care at a prestigious awards ceremony.
Bertram-based Volunteer Coordinator Veronica Reutens was acknowledged as the Nation’s best palliative care volunteer, winning the Outstanding Achievement by a Volunteer Award.
Silver Chain’s Palliative Extended and Care Home (PEACH) team, based in NSW, also won the Outstanding Team Award, in partnership service with South Western Sydney Local Health District.
“I am extremely humbled to be taking home this Award, it is a privilege to spend time with people and make their lives better at the end stage,” Veronica said.
A long-standing Hospice volunteer, Veronica was recently recognised for 25 years of service with Silver Chain.

“Veronica is immensely generous with her time and always ensures clients feel cared for and supported,” nominator Jane Boys said.
“They been very appreciative of the difference she has made to the quality of life of her clients.”
Clinical Nurse Consultant Manager, Sarah Hunter, was also awarded best abstract poster presentation at the Conference.
Silver Chain CEO Dale Fisher congratulated winners and all nominees.
“The winners embody Silver Chain’s values of Care, Community, Integrity and Excellence and our Best Care Framework of delivering safe, effective, connected and personal care,” Ms Fisher said.
The Awards were part of the 2019 Oceanic Palliative Care Conference held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, attended by more than 900 delegates from 18 countries.
