Silver Chain Group CEO to lead SA Health
After ten and a half years, Dr Christopher McGowan has resigned as Silver Chain Group Chief Executive Officer to take up the position of Chief Executive Officer at South Australian Health.
Given the nature of the new appointment, a relatively short period of notice will see Dr McGowan leave Silver Chain on Friday 4 May.
Chair of the Silver Chain Group Board Anne Skipper said we wish Chris all the best and sincerely thank him for his years as steward of Silver Chain Group.
“Chris is from South Australia and began his esteemed career in health in SA. This appointment is a positive reflection of the impact and achievements of Chris and the staff at Silver Chain Group,” Ms Skipper said.
“I am confident he will successfully lead South Australian health through an exciting phase with the new government.
“Chris oversaw the merger of RDNS and Silver Chain, and has been instrumental in our organisation’s growth to become one of Australia’s largest community health and aged care organisations.
“Under his leadership, revenue increased from $110 million to $300 million and Silver Chain has positioned itself as a national leader in community based palliative care, introduced innovative service delivery and funding models, and established a presence across Australia.
“Chris leaves Silver Chain well placed to achieve its strategic vision delivering the world’s best health and aged care in the community, so Australians can confidently live their lives as they choose.”
Silver Chain Group will immediately start recruitment for a new Chief Executive Officer to continue to push boundaries and grow the organisation - including the roll out of our Enhanced Medical Mixed Reality, a world first, which will use holoportation technology to bring doctors into people’s homes.
Silver Chain Executive General Manager, Strategy and Executive Operations, Ms Lyn Jones will be acting Chief Executive Officer in the interim.
