Silver Chain Alarm protects great-grandmother in home invasion

Silver Chain Alarm protects great-grandmother in home invasion

A 93-year-old great-grandmother has escaped a home invasion with the help of her Silver Chain Personal Alarm and the WA Police.

Jean Simpson, from Perth’s south, is one of almost 4,200 West Australians with a Silver Chain Personal Alarm. She called Silver Chain’s 24/7 emergency response team after finding two men in her home.

“It was terrifying to be woken in the early hours of the morning by a man going through my bedroom,” Mrs Simpson said.

“I managed to escape through the front door and pressed my Silver Chain Alarm Pendant to call for help.”

When activated, the Silver Chain Personal Alarm puts users in voice contact with Silver Chain’s emergency response operators.

Silver Chain’s Call Centre contacted WA Police on Mrs Simpsons’ behalf and stayed on the phone to her, comforting her until help arrived.

“It was very reassuring to see how fast Silver Chain and the WA Police worked together to help me when I needed it most,” Mrs Simpson said.

"Silver Chain is an organisation close to my heart. They have helped me through hard times in the past, and now they are there for me again.”

Kiah Lee, Silver Chain’s Alarm Business Manager, said that Silver Chain Personal Alarms are important for people living alone in the community, are easy to install and simple to use.

“A Silver Chain Alarm allows people to live independently, giving them and their loved ones peace of mind knowing there is someone to answer calls for help, day or night,” Ms Lee said.

Almost 7000 Australians have a Silver Chain Personal Alarm. Silver Chain’s Call Centre has received close to 700 emergency calls for help this past month from Personal Alarm activations.

Acting Sergeant Mick Slaughter, from WA Police, confirmed that Police are continue their investigation into this incident. Anyone with information about this burglary is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at
