Care aides celebrate 20-year milestone

Care aides celebrate 20-year milestone

A pair of Silver Chain care aides have spent a combined 40 years travelling more than one million kilometres attending to the needs of thousands of South-West community members.

Anita Bridges and Jackie Wood have each worked as care aides for two decades providing critical in-home care to the elderly and in-need community members.

Seeing up to 12 clients a day from Busselton to Margaret River, Ms Bridges said the feeling of helping people and varying nature of the role is what has kept her caring for the community since 1999.

"I love seeing people continue to live at home as they get older - that's what I'd like to do," she said.

"Each day and visit to a client are different and I just love brightening their day."

Ms Woods said she would always remember the friendships made along the way.

"When you're visiting clients sometimes for many years, you can make close bonds with them," she said.

Silver Chain community manager Amy Hutchinson praised the pair on their milestone.

"Anita and Jackie are very valued members of our South-West team," she said.

"Providing crucial care aide for 20 years is a feat few have achieved, and we - and the community as whole - are very grateful for their commitment and service."
