Given Molly is the social type, it doesn’t take long for the conversation to get started when she visits Silver Chain’s Belmont Integrum Aged Care+ clinic each Thursday.
A Bichon Friese, Molly likes people, pats and sweet biscuits.
“Molly’s visit is pretty much the highlight of the week,” said Integrum Director Marc de St Pern. “She puts smiles on faces, brings joy and is often the catalyst for conversation.”
As Integrum Aged Care+ focuses on innovative health care options for clients who visit the clinic for exercise classes, physiotherapy and social services, therapy dogs like Molly are an important part of the program.
Therapy dogs offer many proven benefits for the elderly, including comfort and company, encouraging physical activity, improving mental health and even pain relief.
Integrum client and pet lover Mary Lazaroo, is just one of Molly’s fans.
“Molly brightens the day, she just makes you happy.”
When I first came in I had pain and was uncomfortable, but seeing cuddly and soft Molly running around the clinic has taken away my pain.
