We know that many people, given the choice, would prefer to be cared for at home. Careplus, Silver Chain’s equipment service, plays a key role in supporting our clients to do just that.
Careplus is part of Silver Chain and has been providing specialised equipment to clients in the Perth metropolitan area and beyond, for more than 20 years. Equipment includes beds, hoists, mattresses, commodes and shower chairs.
Many Silver Chain clients benefit from Careplus equipment but Hospice Care Service clients are by far the largest beneficiaries. Silver Chain’s Hospice Care Service is focused on increasing comfort and achieving the best quality of life possible for people with a life limiting illness or condition.
Silver Chain’s Steve Brooks, who manages the Careplus team, said whilst the Hospice Care Service provides vital nursing, medical and other care, Careplus delivers specialised equipment to support people receiving care and keep them as comfortable as possible.
“Careplus is an integral part of Silver Chain’s broader package of support for Hospice Care clients. Equipment plays a key role in ensuring they have the physical support they need in their home so they can stay there for as long as possible, if that is their choice,” Steve said.
Tina Jacobs, whose father was a Hospice Care Service client that benefited from Careplus, said the equipment made an immeasurable difference for her father, Tony.
“We were extremely grateful for the prompt delivery of equipment, at a time when dad really needed it," Tina said.
"The Careplus team were so pleasant and helpful, and also very respectful, given the circumstances. It really helped keep dad comfy in his final days, and indeed stay at home at all which was his wish.”
Thanks to support from our loyal donors, we will invest in new equipment to reduce our maintenance costs, improve the client experience and extend the service so more people like Tina’s father, Tony, can benefit.
