Silver Chain has appointed Dr Daryl Kroschel as its first full time Medical Director for the Home Hospital service.
This is a significant appointment for the organisation as it not only recognises the growth in this service but also the huge potential for the future.
Home Hospital sees our experienced medical staff provide clinical care to eligible clients in their own home, rather than being admitted to hospital for treatment. Silver Chain currently delivers care to 130 clients per day in the Perth metropolitan area – clients who would otherwise be in hospital.
Daryl has more than 18 years of experience across both general practice and hospital care in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Silver Chain’s Home Hospital service has had huge exponential growth over the past year. We were invited into Royal Perth Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital and Fremantle Hospital to deliver the service, with other opportunities also on the horizon.
“Over the next year my prime focus for Home Hospital will be ensuring our client safety continues to align to hospital standards, looking at how we manage a client should they deteriorate whilst in our care and ensuring our internal and external handover processes exceed the national safety and quality benchmarks," Daryl said.
“We also want to raise awareness about the service so clients understand they could be cared for at home rather than in hospital, not to mention the improved client outcomes that come with being treated in one’s own home and the economic benefits, reducing the pressure on hospitals.”
