During October, Silver Chain celebrated the official opening of its newly renovated service centre in South Hedland and its arrival in the region.
More than 40 clients and carers, staff, referrers and members of the community attended the event which was officially opened by WA Opposition Leader Mark McGowan and Mining and Pastoral Region MLC Stephen Dawson.
Silver Chain General Manager, Country Services, Carole Bain, said it was a pleasure to attend the event, witness the reactions of the local community as they visited the service centre and heard stories of how they are enjoying Silver Chain being a provider in the region.
“Everyone was visibly impressed with the look and feel of the service centre and the new features on offer for both Silver Chain clients and staff alike,” Carole said.
Silver Chain’s service centre in South Hedland features a clinic for nursing. There is also a staff office, industrial kitchen, laundry and garden area with a BBQ.
The facility includes a day centre, providing respite for carers by giving clients an opportunity to interact with others in a comfortable environment while participating in a range of interactive and interesting activities.
In January 2015, Silver Chain commenced providing community health and care services in Port Hedland, Dampier, Karratha, Roebourne, Point Samson, Wickham and the Western Desert. In July, the organisation expanded into Onslow.
Services in the Pilbara region now operating under Silver Chain include Home Care Packages, Home and Community Care (support services, nursing and allied health), Veterans’ Home Care and Nursing services, Mental Health and Respite for Carers.
