Summer is on the horizon and with the change of season comes the inevitable hotter weather and the increased risk of fires.
If you fall into our ‘vulnerable client’ category, you may receive a call from our Contact Centre if a fire danger in your area is on Watch and Act alert, to check on your wellbeing.
Clients who fall into this category include those who live alone and have no family or carers nearby and are residing within the fire boundaries.
Silver Chain Contact Centre Manager, Kylie Cook, said her staff will call vulnerable clients as a courtesy when the fire danger is at Watch and Act alert but it is important they don’t wait for this call.
“We care for our clients and want to ensure their safety but we do not replace the role that the Department of Fire & Emergency Services (DFES) plays during an emergency,” Kylie explained.
“We encourage our clients to listen to ABC radio, 6PR or other news bulletins so they can keep up-to-date on fire warnings and follow any DFES instructions.”
This is just one of the many ways our Contact Centre cares for our clients.
