Improving access to health and care in the Gascoyne
In 2015, we asked for your support to help us build a new facility in Carnarvon to provide a much needed nursing clinic and Social Centre for the Midwest region.
Silver Chain General Manager Health Care WA, Mark Cockayne, said the organisation is sincerely grateful for all the donations received through the appeal.
“There was, however, a significant shortfall between what was required to build a new facility and the monies raised," Mark said.
"We have considered alternative ways to meet the needs of the community and the good news is we decided to refurbish our existing facilities instead.
“This ensures we can deliver much needed clinic appointments and Social Centre facilities in a fit-for-purpose environment for the Gascoyne region.
"We have been able to fulfill this promise thanks to the Gascoyne Regional Grants Scheme supported by Royalty for Regions who funded more than $206,000 to help us renovate our Carnarvon Clinic and Social centre.
"Their major contribution as well as donations from the Friends of Citizens Under Stress ($15,000 to fund our furnishing and equipment costs) and other loyal Silver Chain donors from the WA Community will provide Carnarvon and its surrounding communities with a fantastic refurbished facility.
“We are humbled to have received such a large donation and support from a group who volunteer their time to fundraise for their communities.
“The refurbished facilities will be optimised to meet the needs of the Carnarvon community and surrounding areas and help improve access to aged care services including chronic disease management, wound care, allied health and telehealth."
Building works are currently underway at the Silver Chain Carnarvon Service Centre and are scheduled to be completed towards the end of July.
We look forward to welcoming you to our open day in September. Thank you to all our loyal donors who contributed to our Spring 2015 appeal with a special thank you to FOCUS their most recent donation.
