A Perth woman is matching a mullet to her hiking boots as she sets out on a hiking challenge in memory of her dad.
Harmony Waite hopes to raise $1500 for Silver Chain as she tries her hand at the Delirious W.E.S.T 200 Miler – a challenging stretch of WA’s world-famous Bibbulmun Track.
A mullet isn’t usually an accessory of choice for hikers, but Harmony hopes the rugged hair cut will motivate supporters to donate cash to her charity appeal.
“You might think I’m a bit crazy to even consider this [charity challenge] so I thought, why not do it with a crazy hairstyle,” Harmony said.
Two hundred miles (320 km) is no mean feat and we’re so grateful to this enthusiastic fundraiser as she tackles twice the distance she’s ever completed before in honour of dad Christopher Waite.
“Silver Chain provides an invaluable home care health service to various people in the community.” Harmony added.
“For a short period of his life, circa late 1990s, he had a mullet. So, I’m going to trail test the mullet for him and Silver Chain during this spectacular adventure on the Bibb.”
“Silver Chain were the reason my Dad was living independently up until a week before his passing, with only a short few days in palliative care. My old man was very practical, and I know he appreciated this service immensely.”
