Kindness woven into the fabric
A community group which provides meaningful work for people with disabilities has been woven into the fabric of the Silver Chain team thanks to its work to help our palliative care clients.
Members of the Proudly Productive team have been making and providing cloth bags to help palliative care clients carry around their medication.
Many clients require continuous infusions of medications to keep them comfortable, and carry around small, battery-operated pumps to deliver the infusions.
To make this easy and to protect the pump, a cloth bag is used so people can continue to be as active as possible while receiving their medication.
We’re grateful to the team from Proudly Productive who have been making and providing high quality cloth bags for our clients.
From flowers to cartoon characters, a wide range of materials and patterns are used which enables the registered nurse to select and match a design to an individual client’s age and taste.
And innovative ideas suggested by the Proudly Productive team, including changing from Velcro closure to press stud, has made the bags more comfortable to wear and use as well as easier to open.
Silver Chain staff were delighted to welcome members of the Proudly Productive team to the Jandakot Service Centre to see how the bags are being used and to meet some of the Hospice Care Service team.
