Clients keep close eyes on Silver Chain education and innovation
The Silver Chain National Consumer Advisory Group (NCAG) consists of clients, consumers and carers.
The group provides a consumer voice and perspective on Silver Chain operations, services and policies.
In our Summer 2017 edition of this newsletter, we talked about how we want to use innovation to improve in-home care. Our NCAG members have been some of the first to test drive our latest technological developments.
This included our Enhanced Medical Mixed Reality (EMMR) system, that uses mixed reality to put health care professionals in people’s homes as well as a website portal being developed for clients to access and communicate information about their services.
By testing these emerging technologies, the NCAG helps Silver Chain keep the client experience in focus and assess the usability, accessibility and effectiveness of new services.
NCAG member Elaine said she loved the idea of using cutting edge technology and seeing how it supports the organisation’s vision of people living confidently in their homes.
Fellow member Shirley described the technology as helpful, noting it will allow people to get the best care and the right expertise in the right environment – their home.
The NCAG has also been busy reviewing several Silver Chain staff education programs, including Silver Chain’s staff induction, person-centred care, understanding Dementia and ‘Appropriate Responses to Challenging Situations’ training modules.
Some WA group members have also attended a Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults course, where they had the opportunity to learn from the course and provide feedback on how the presentation could be better delivered.
