When the National Broadband Network (nbn™ network) is rolled out to provide high-speed broadband access to all Australians, Silver Chain Alarms clients need not worry about their personal alarm service.
As the nbn™ network is progressively rolled out and the existing phone network is switched over, landline personal alarms will need to be upgraded, as phone services on the nbn™ network are unlikely to work during a power outage.
Silver Chain Support Manager, Alarms, Kiah Lee, said over the last few years the organisation had been working closely with the nbn™ team to ensure continuity of service for all clients with personal alarms.
“Over the next two years, clients will have their existing landline personal alarm upgraded to a future-proofed 3G alarm, where required. The upgrade will be free of charge and the existing alarm will be removed.”
The alarm upgrade program is expected to take approximately two years to complete, as each alarm upgrade will include a professional installation by a technician at your home. If you are a Silver Chain Alarms client, you will be notified when your personal alarm is due to be upgraded, ensuring the continuation of your service.
