Walpole
Silver Chain Walpole acts as a service centre for the adjacent and nearby rural and primary industries. The Health Centre services areas from Weld River to Kent River and 50kms west. A General Practitioner visits three days per week.
Tourism is becoming a significant means of positive economic development for the town – particularly with the tremendous success of the “Valley of the Giants” and “Treetop Walk” icons. There has been a recent expansion of commercial development within the town, which is considered a reflection of increased tourist activity. This region is well known for the isolation both from a communication point of view but also in regards to evacuation and retrieval with increasing number of visitors to the region.
Silver Chain plan and co-ordinate a range of services including emergency services, prevention and health promotion, disease control, maternal / school / child health and development screening.
Silver Chain conducts regular evaluation through survey and feedback from staff and the community to ensure service delivery and the model of care is linked to priorities and needs.
Primary health and chronic disease management are important service provision across all Silver Chain sites. Nationally, there is a strong focus around primary health, capacity building communities and working strong partnerships with key health care providers.
Silver Chain works in close collaboration with other key stakeholders such as WA Country Health Service (WACHS), St John Ambulance (SJA), Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), State Emergency Service (SES) and Fire & Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia (FESA) to respond to (accident) and emergency when requested and when available.
