Veterans Home Care
Veterans' Home Care is part of a broader Australian Government strategy designed to assist veterans, war widows and widowers who wish to continue living at home, but who need a small amount of practical help. Access Care Network Australia is proud to support the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) by providing community nursing and Veterans' Home Care (VHC) services that enhance wellbeing and independence, reduce the risk of illness and injury, and improve health outcomes.
Silver Chain is contracted by DVA to provide the following:
- Service delivery in the metropolitan area (assessment and co-ordination is provided by other organisations).
- Assessment, co-ordination and service delivery in country areas.
VHC services include the following:
Home Help
Aims to maintain or boost people's independence in their own home by assisting with general housework such as vacuuming, mopping, ironing, clothes washing, cleaning the bathroom and toilet.
Personal Care
Assists with the essential tasks of daily living including bathing, getting dressed, toileting, care of the skin, nails and hair, medication reminder calls, application of creams and medical stockings, preparing meals and increasing mobility through exercise.
Home and Garden Maintenance (rural locations only)
To minimise environmental hazards around the home, our handymen can ensure a safe environment for clients by cutting back branches that may hang over pathways, changing smoke alarm batteries, cleaning out gutters, fixing leaking taps, repairing broken door or gate hinges etc.
Respite
Silver Chain provides a professional carer to step in and take the place of the primary carer, to provide them with rest and relief. Respite can be arranged for a couple of hours or days and is available in the home or in a residential facility.
