Veteran's Home Care

Veteran's Home Care (VHC) is a program funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA).  The services provided are designed to enhance your independence and health outcomes if you are a veteran or war widow/widower.  This includes strategies to reduce the risk of illness and injury.

Silver Chain is contracted by DVA to provide the following:
  • Service delivery in the Perth metropolitan area (assessment and co-ordination is provided by other organisations).
  • Assessment, co-ordination and service delivery in country areas.

The services available include:

  • Home help/domestic assistance (usually one and half hours per fortnight, but can be negotiated depending on need).
  • Personal care (usually three 30 minute episodes per week).
  • Home and garden maintenance (up to fifteen hours per annum).
  • Respite (must meet eligibility criteria).

The agency that carries out your initial assessment will discuss with you the payment of fees for the services that you will be receiving.  Co-payments apply for most of the Veterans Home Care services except respite.
