The primary objective of Silver Chain's Research Department has been, since its foundation in 1993, to promote ‘the development of high quality research aimed at ensuring the relevance, quality and effectiveness of Silver Chain services and improving and influencing the future direction of community and aged care.’
Growth and Development
Since the appointment of the Research Manager in August 1993, Silver Chain has grown considerably and expanded its service base both in terms of the type and number of services it provides. The Research team has contributed to this growth and also to the formulation of Silver Chain’s current strategic direction particularly in terms of its current focus on high quality evidence based care that supports and promotes independence.

The Team
The team itself has also grown as it has needed to meet an increased demand from within the organisation to understand both itself and the services it provides as well as the health and aged care needs of the community and how best to meet them. The team’s growth has also resulted from its success in winning grants to conduct research projects to address key issues in health and aged care. |

Research Projects
Silver Chain’s Research team, currently twelve members strong, is involved in a range of projects. Many of these projects involve collaborations with other researchers and service providers. We welcome opportunities to work with others and to assist others to address research questions that are of importance to our clients and staff.
