Silver Chain was founded in 1905 and celebrated its 100th birthday in 2005.
Silver Chain operates seven residential facilities and provides 108 high care and 175 low care beds (June 2006).
Silver Chain currently employs 2,388 staff (June 2007).
Silver Chain has over 650 volunteers who actively support our organisation (June 2007).
During the 2006/2007 financial year, Silver Chain assisted more than 39,000 people, delivered more than 1.4 million hours of care and 1.6 million occasions of service (June 2007).
Our staff also travelled 14,300,000 kilometres in our Silver Chain fleet vehicles during the 2006/2007 financial year. We have more than 550 vehicles in our fleet (June 2007).
In 2002 there were 211,000 people aged 65 years and older in Western Australia, representing 11.2% of the states total population (Aged and Community Services Western Australia).
By 2051 there will be an expected 783,100 people aged 65 years and older living in Western Australia, representing 28.3% of the states population (Active Ageing Taskforce).
